Bluetooth won't connect to the charger

Pairing switches itself off an hour after first power-up. How to re-enable it, and the 15-second reconnect window.

Bluetooth is how you reach a charger when it has no network — during commissioning, or when a device has dropped offline. If pairing fails, there is usually a specific reason rather than a fault.

Pairing switches itself off. On current charger firmware, Bluetooth pairing is disabled one hour after the charger is first powered up, and it stays disabled through ordinary power cycles. This is deliberate — an installed charger should not be permanently open to pairing.

Re-enabling pairing

Power-cycle the charger three times in a row, each time for less than 10 seconds. That sequence re-enables Bluetooth pairing. A single power cycle will not do it, however long you wait.

The 15-second window

When you are connecting after a power cycle, connect quickly:

  1. Power-cycle the charger.

  2. Connect over Bluetooth from the VOOL app within about 15 seconds.

  3. If that fails, restart your phone, switch its Bluetooth off and on again, and try once more.

Other things that stop a connection

  • The phone is already paired to something else, or holds a stale pairing for this charger. Remove the charger from the phone's Bluetooth settings and try again.

  • Another phone is connected. Only one device can hold the connection at a time.

  • You are too far away, or there is metal in between. A charger inside a metal enclosure or behind a panel has a short usable range.

  • The app is out of date. Check the version under the profile icon and update if needed.

What you can and cannot do over Bluetooth

Bluetooth is for reaching and configuring the device — network settings, connectivity, device settings. It is not a charging control channel, and there is nothing available over Bluetooth that cannot also be changed from the web portal when the device is online.

For the connection procedure itself, see Connect to the charger via Bluetooth. For the LMC, Bluetooth is activated by pressing the button on the device for at least a second — the connectivity LED turns blue.

If it still will not pair

Send us the charger serial number, the firmware version if you can see it, your phone model and operating system version, and confirmation that you tried the three short power cycles. If the device is otherwise online we can often check and change the setting you need remotely, which avoids the pairing problem entirely.
