⚡️ LMC Firmware Updates

The VOOL LMC received 2 important updates this month.

LMC Firmware Update 4.7.0

We began rolling out LMC firmware version 4.7.0 on November 4. This exciting update enables installers to set up and configure LMCs in offline mode.

Configure sites offline via WiFi hotspot

  • Add chargers to the LMC for load management

  • Set up power sharing among multiple chargers

  • Specify where the LMC measures current

  • Enable GSM support, if supported by hardware

Overhaul of software update logic

  • Automatic updates occur Monday through Thursday at 00:00

  • Updates can be initiated via OCPP

  • Update status messages are sent to the OCPP server for clearer indication

LMC Firmware Update 4.7.1

We began rolling out LMC firmware version 4.7.1 on November 20.

Add Factory Reset Capability via OCPP

  • Resets all LMC settings.

  • Removes all previously configured chargers.

  • Clears any configured Wi-Fi networks. (If the LMC is connected via Wi-Fi, it will go offline.)

⚠️ The reset button for the LMC will be available on the VOOL Portal and VOOL Mobile App within a few weeks. Please note that the LMC must be online to perform the reset.

Offline Configuration Enhancements

Improved setup experience for offline configuration.

Wi-Fi Configuration Management via VOOL Portal (app.vool.com)

  • Entering an empty SSID and password through the web interface clears the Wi-Fi configuration.

  • If the LMC is connected via Wi-Fi, it will go offline.

Enhanced Equal Power Sharing Algorithm

Optimized for improved performance and efficiency.

⚡️ VOOL Charger Firmware Got Updated to 1.9.11

  • Improved charging experience for 1-phase and 2-phase EVs: Resolved an issue that caused unnecessary entry into the suspended EVSE state during startup in standalone mode for 1-phase and 2-phase EVs.

  • Enhanced Firmware Update Process Reliability and Version Management: Improves the firmware update process when connected via LMC (CAN).

  • Optimized Internal Communication: Resolves rare firmware update failures and enhances internal status management.

  • Streamlined Factory Calibration Process: Enables a faster and more efficient calibration workflow.

⚡️ Trigger the LMC Firmware Update Manually on VOOL Portal

It is now possible to manually trigger a firmware update for the LMC via the VOOL Portal (app.vool.com).

⚠️ Please note

  • The LMC must run on firmware 4.7.0+ to support this function!

  • Manual updates for the LMCs are not necessary, as they will automatically receive updates between Monday and Thursday at midnight.

  • The mobile app will get this function in a few weeks!

⚡️ Setup & Configure LMC in Offline Mode!

The LMC can now be set up and configured in offline mode, eliminating the need for an active internet connection during configuration. Simply connect to the LMC’s local hotspot using your mobile phone or laptop to complete the setup. Note that the LMC must be running firmware version 4.7.0 or later.

The password for entering the LMC setup: "service".

Things to know:

  1. Offline Mode:

    • If LMC lacks internet access, it automatically creates a temporary hotspot with a "captive portal" login page.

    • This hotspot is disabled once internet connectivity is established.

  2. Wi-Fi Configuration:

    • If no Wi-Fi networks are configured in LMC, the temporary hotspot remains active indefinitely (unless wired ethernet is available).

    • If configured Wi-Fi networks are unavailable, LMC won't attempt to connect unless a network scan detects its presence.

    • Exception: LMC will actively seek out hidden SSIDs configured in LMC, regardless of location. (Note: Hidden SSIDs are generally discouraged due to potential security risks.)

  3. Captive Portal Stability:

    • Connection attempts to configured Wi-Fi networks only occur when no users are connected to the captive portal, ensuring a seamless user experience.

  4. Online Configuration:

    • Once Wi-Fi is configured, the "offline setup" page is no longer accessible. This is because the device is no longer truly "offline." Further configuration can be managed through the web app at app.vool.com

  5. Charger ID Entry:

    • Charger IDs need to be entered manually.

Offline Setup Interface for LMC

⚡️ Offline RFID card support now available!

Ensure that RFID cards can initiate and terminate charging sessions even if the charger is disconnected from the network. Turn on this setting on VOOL Portal on the charger configuration sidebar:

⚡️ VOOL Platform now integrates seamlessly with Volvo BEVs!

We’re excited to announce that VOOL platform users can now connect their Volvo BEVs to the app and fully enjoy our smart charging features. Once integrated, the VOOL platform will access your Volvo’s battery SOC (State of Charge) and, with the 'Full Battery at Cheapest Price' charging strategy, optimize the charging schedule for maximum cost efficiency.
