What is VOOL-managed billing?

VOOL-managed billing is an optional service that automates all payments between your users and your charging site.

When enabled:

  • VOOL collects payments from users for their charging sessions.

  • You receive a monthly payout with the full revenue.

  • A service fee of 8% is automatically billed from your saved payment card.

  • No fixed monthly fees or hidden charges.

This allows you to offer paid charging to residents, employees, guests, and public users without managing payments yourself.

What are pricing rules?

Pricing rules define how much different user groups pay when charging at your site.

You can create:

  • Member pricing rules – for workspace members

  • Multiple rules, each applied to a specific user group

Available price types:

  • Fixed price (e.g. 0.25 €/kWh)

  • Market price + margin (Nord Pool price + your custom margin)

Pricing rules are assigned to users through groups.

How end-users charge

Users with access can start charging:

Charging starts only if:

  • the user has a valid payment card, and

  • the charger is accessible based on the group rules you’ve set.

Each charging session is billed automatically.

Example scenarios

Example 1: Residents vs. guests

  • Residents get 0.20 €/kWh

  • Guests receive market price + 0.10 € margin

  • Residents and guests are placed into different groups

Example 2: Public charging

  • Public users pay a fixed 0.30 €/kWh

  • Members of your workspace can have a lower price

  • Public users are charged automatically through VOOL

Example 3: Office charging

  • Employees added to a group with a market-based price

  • Company cars added to a group with 0 € (free charging)

  • Visitors get a higher public rate

Setting everything up

Follow these three steps to enable paid charging using VOOL-managed billing and pricing rules.

Step 1 — Enable VOOL-managed billing

Navigation: Settings → Subscriptions

  • Activate Managed billing.

  • Add company details, a valid payment card (used only for the service fee), and payout details.

  • Once active, you can create VOOL-managed pricing rules.

Step 2 — Create a pricing rule

Navigation: Access management → Pricing rules

  1. Click Create pricing rule

  2. Set your price:

    • Fixed

    • Market price + margin

  3. Choose VOOL-managed as the billing method

  4. Save the rule

You can create multiple rules depending on your needs.

Step 3 — Create a group for users

Navigation: Access management → Groups

Groups define who can charge and at what price.

  1. Click Create group

  2. Select the pricing rule you created

  3. Add:

    • Users or member groups

    • RFID cards (optional)

  4. Assign chargers or sites the group can access

  5. Save the group

Users in the group will now charge at the assigned price, and payments are handled automatically.

Monthly payouts and reporting

At the beginning of each month:

  • VOOL pays out the total revenue from the previous month

  • You receive:

    • A revenue report

    • A service fee invoice (charged from your saved card)

You can view payout history and invoices any time in the Settings → Payments & earnings section.
