What is VOOL-managed billing?

VOOL-managed billing is an optional service that automates all payments for your charging site.

When enabled, VOOL:

  • collects payments from drivers

  • generates invoices and reports

  • pays out your charging revenue every month

You don’t need to manage payments yourself.

Who is this for?

VOOL-managed billing is ideal for:

  • apartment buildings and residential charging

  • offices and employee charging

  • guest and visitor charging

  • public or semi-public charging sites

It works for both private and public use cases.

How do drivers pay?

Drivers:

  • add a payment card once from mobile app or customer portal

  • start charging via:

    • the VOOL mobile app

    • the customer portal (charge.vool.com)

    • an RFID card

Payments are handled automatically after each charging session.

What are pricing rules?

Pricing rules define how much different users pay when charging.

You can create:

  • member pricing rules – for residents, employees, or specific user groups

  • public pricing rules – for guests or public users

Pricing rules are applied through user groups.

What pricing options are available?

You can choose between:

  • fixed price (for example 0.25 €/kWh)

  • market price + margin (for example electricity market price plus 0.10 €)

This gives you full control over your pricing strategy.

Can different users pay different prices on the same charger?

Yes.

For example:

  • residents pay a lower fixed price

  • guests pay market price plus a margin

  • employees charge at cost

  • company cars can charge for free (0 €)

All of this works on the same chargers, using groups and pricing rules.

What happens each month?

At the beginning of each month:

  • VOOL pays out your full charging revenue

  • you receive a clear revenue report

  • an 8% service fee is charged from your saved payment card

There are:

  • no fixed monthly fees

  • no hidden charges

Do I need to create invoices for drivers?

No.

VOOL:

  • bills drivers automatically

  • generates all invoices

  • handles payment collection

You only receive a monthly payout and reporting.

Can drivers charge without adding a payment card?

No.

Charging starts only if:

  • the user has a valid payment card

  • the charger is accessible based on your rules

This ensures reliable payment collection.

Can I enable VOOL-managed billing without adding a payment card?

No.

To enable VOOL-managed billing, you must add a valid payment card.

The payment card is used to:

  • automatically charge the 8% service fee

  • avoid manual invoices or offline payments

VOOL does not send service fee invoices that require manual payment.
The service fee is always charged automatically from your saved payment card.

This ensures:

  • fully automated billing

  • no manual reconciliation

You can update or replace the payment card at any time in your billing settings.

Can I stop using VOOL-managed billing?

Yes.

VOOL-managed billing is optional.
You can disable it at any time and switch to self-managed billing if needed.
