Here’s a summary of VOOL product updates from July and August 2024.

VOOL Portal

Introduced an option to enable/disable public charging at the device level

When enabling or modifying public charging, users can select which chargers will be made public.

Access Management and Workspace Settings have been separated

Workspace settings, which include Company Details and Invoices, can be found in the top-right hand navigation.

Charger-LMC communication link status has been added to site view

In the site detail view, a status circle is displayed for each charger in the 'Controller/Group' column, indicating the communication status with the LMC.

The indicator will be red when the connection with the LMC is lost. This indicator will not guarantee the load management to work. It's about showing the connection status and type with the LMC!

This is available for LMCs running on firmware 4.6.0+.

Other VOOL Portal updates to mention:

  • The RFID name has been added to the Reporting view and the CSV report

  • Google and Apple login has been added to invitation landing page

  • User shall become owner when accepting Installer invite

    • When completing the mobile installer flow by creating a new installation, adding a device, and then transferring ownership by sending an invite, the invitee will become the Owner of the workspace.

  • SEPA was added as a new payment method

VOOL Mobile App

The VOOL mobile app has undergone extensive maintenance this summer and is set to relaunch in late September 2024 with a brand-new approach to smart charging! Our goal is to simplify the smart charging experience, making it more user-friendly while also introducing solar-powered charging options. 🌞

Stay tuned for these exciting updates!

The VOOL Charger Firmware Update: 1.8.9

The charger firmware was update to 1.8.9 to improve the overall charger stability.

A couple of improvements to mention:

  • Added delayed stop request handling.

  • Fix in calculating average total voltage while relays off.

  • Terminal menu update.

  • Now sending FW update start confirmation after flash erased, to prevent missing first FW packet.

  • Full 2 phase EV support added - 3 phase to 2 phase switching procedure added.

  • Added debug messages for impossible phase combo requests.

  • Fixed a delay for resuming from suspendedEV state (meaning we fixed a lot of Audi e-tron charging issues that were caused by Audi platform specifics).

The LMC Firmware Update: 4.6.0

The highlights of this update include:

  • CAN communication improvements with latest charger firmware versions.

  • LTE supported by network manager.

    • No web interface yet to enable it; requires explicit manual enabling via internal tooling.

  • Web can request chargers communication status with LMC (read more about it in the VOOL Portal section)

    • Web displays more information whether charger is added in LMC configuration.

  • Modbus RTU power meter support

    • Only Siemens PAC power meter supported currently

  • Fixed issues where values changed over web would not persist between reboots.

  • Fixed charger parameters displayed over OCPP2.0 proxy

    • For example with some LAN devices current limits were displayed as 0.16A instead of 16A

  • Fixed detecting newly added chargers in LAN

  • Ethernet and Wifi interface status checking improved
