Activating A Charging Mode

To select and activate a charging mode, whether it's a quick, one-time charging session or an automatic recurring smart charge, tap the Start button.

One-time vs Automatic Charging

Now, you can choose between setting up a one-time charging session or automatic charging, where the charging schedule is created automatically the next time your EV is plugged in. The app saves your settings and preferred charging mode.

Charging Strategies

Choose one of the following charging strategies:

Charge now: Starts charging immediately, regardless of conditions or price.
- Linking your EV is not required.
Schedule: Manually select the time slots during which you want charging to occur. You define the schedule, and the VOOL charger will charge only during these specified time slots.
- Linking your EV is not required.
Price-based: Automatically charge when electricity prices fall below your set threshold. The app tracks the market and schedules charging to save you money.
- Linking your EV is not required.
Cheapest hours: Set the duration of your desired smart charging session, and VOOL will select the optimal time slots for charging.
- No EV linking required—the program just finds the cheapest hours for charging.
Cheapest Energy (Beta): Charge a specific amount of energy at the lowest available electricity price.

Do I need to connect my EV to the app?

No! You do not need to link the car to app! Right now linking is disabled because its getting reworked!

However, adding a car with its battery capacity enables capacity-based charging programs such as Cheapest energy.

Schedule

Manually select the time slots during which you want charging to occur. You define the schedule, and the VOOL charger will charge only during these specified time slots.

Define your desired time slots using the time picker.
You can set up as many time slots as you need—either a single slot or multiple slots.
When the automatic schedule program is active, charging will automatically occur daily during the time slots you've defined here.
Currently, it's not possible to specify different schedules for particular days or weekends. The same schedule will apply to all days.
You can always edit your schedule by removing existing time slots or adding new ones.

Price-Based Strategy

Avoid peak pricing: Easily set a maximum kWh price you're willing to pay. VOOL will automatically pause charging when electricity rates exceed your limit, ensuring you only charge when prices are favorable.

Charging schedule preview: Once activated, your charging schedule preview will be displayed in orange with a gradient.

It's a simple strategy that does not require linking your EV into VOOL platform.

When you activate the smart charging strategy, you have the freedom to leave your EV plugged in for extended periods. VOOL's intelligent system will continuously monitor market electricity prices and adjust the charging schedule accordingly. As soon as prices drop below your specified maximum kWh price, VOOL will automatically initiate charging.

Cheapest Hours

Simply specify the duration of your smart charging session, and VOOL will select the cheapest time slots for charging. No EV linking is required for this program. Just set the end time and session length, and VOOL will charge during the most affordable hours.

We recommend this program for most users who need a bit of energy each night but don’t necessarily require a full battery by morning. Activate the program in ‘Automatic’ mode, and VOOL will automatically charge your EV by your desired ready-by time in the most cost-effective way. No more manually calculating prices before setting up smart charging.

Cheapest energy (Beta)

Instead of charging your car to 100%, you simply define how much battery percentage you want to add and when the car should be ready. VOOL will automatically schedule charging during the cheapest electricity hours before your selected time.

You only need to define two things:

how much battery percentage to add (for example +50%)
the time when the car should be ready

Once the program is activated, VOOL calculates the required energy based on your vehicle’s battery capacity and estimates how long charging will take. The system then finds the cheapest electricity hours available before your target time and schedules charging automatically.

During the session, VOOL continuously monitors the charging process and adjusts the schedule if needed. If charging is slower or faster than expected, the system will adapt to still reach the requested charge by the selected time whenever possible.

If there is not enough time to add the requested battery percentage, or if the charging result is significantly lower than expected, VOOL will notify you.

To use this program, you need to add your car in the VOOL app and specify its battery capacity. This allows VOOL to calculate how much energy needs to be added.

Solar Charging Strategy (Beta)

Solar charging allows you to charge your electric vehicle using surplus energy from your solar panels.

This feature works together with the VOOL LMC, which measures power flow at your grid connection point and adjusts charging based on available solar production.

When solar charging is active, your car will charge only when excess solar energy is available.
