To select and activate a charging mode, whether it's a quick, one-time charging session or an automatic recurring smart charge, tap the Start button.

Now, you can choose between setting up a one-time charging session or automatic charging, where the charging schedule is created automatically the next time your EV is plugged in. The app saves your settings and preferred charging mode.

Choose one of the following charging strategies:

No! You do not need to link the car to app! Right now linking is disabled because its getting reworked!

However, adding a car with its battery capacity enables capacity-based charging programs such as Cheapest energy.

Manually select the time slots during which you want charging to occur. You define the schedule, and the VOOL charger will charge only during these specified time slots.

Set the maximum price per kWh you are willing to pay. When the program starts, VOOL looks at the published electricity market prices (usually available until the end of the next day) and plans charging slots for the periods where the price is at or below your limit. The car charges only during these slots.

Charging waits for the slots. The session starts right away, but the charger shows 0.0 kW until the first slot begins – often in the evening or at night. This is normal. The planned slots are shown in orange with a gradient in the app.

Keep the car plugged in. If you unplug the car or stop the session before the first slot, nothing is charged. While the car stays plugged in, VOOL keeps following the market prices and charges in every period that fits your limit.

No prices below your limit? Then no slots are planned and the car does not charge until prices drop. If you need energy sooner, raise the limit or use Cheapest time instead.

Changing the limit. The limit of a session that is already running can't be changed. Stop the current session and start a new one with the new limit – the new limit then applies to the new plan.

Note: the price threshold in the app's Timeline settings only changes how prices are highlighted in the timeline. It does not affect charging. The charging limit is the maximum price you set in the Price-based program.

It's a simple strategy that does not require linking your EV into VOOL platform.

Simply specify the duration of your smart charging session, and VOOL will select the cheapest time slots for charging. No EV linking is required for this program. Just set the end time and session length, and VOOL will charge during the most affordable hours.

We recommend this program for most users who need a bit of energy each night but don’t necessarily require a full battery by morning. Activate the program in ‘Automatic’ mode, and VOOL will automatically charge your EV by your desired ready-by time in the most cost-effective way. No more manually calculating prices before setting up smart charging.

Instead of charging your car to 100%, you simply define how much battery percentage you want to add and when the car should be ready. VOOL will automatically schedule charging during the cheapest electricity hours before your selected time.

You only need to define two things:

Once the program is activated, VOOL calculates the required energy based on your vehicle’s battery capacity and estimates how long charging will take. The system then finds the cheapest electricity hours available before your target time and schedules charging automatically.

During the session, VOOL continuously monitors the charging process and adjusts the schedule if needed. If charging is slower or faster than expected, the system will adapt to still reach the requested charge by the selected time whenever possible.

If there is not enough time to add the requested battery percentage, or if the charging result is significantly lower than expected, VOOL will notify you.

To use this program, you need to add your car in the VOOL app and specify its battery capacity. This allows VOOL to calculate how much energy needs to be added.

Solar charging allows you to charge your electric vehicle using surplus energy from your solar panels.

This feature works together with the VOOL LMC, which measures power flow at your grid connection point and adjusts charging based on available solar production.

When solar charging is active, your car will charge only when excess solar energy is available.

You don't have to choose between smart charging and solar charging — you can combine them.

When Charge with solar outside slots is enabled for a smart charging session (Schedule, Price-based, Cheapest time or Cheapest energy), your car charges at full power during the scheduled slots as usual. Outside those slots, VOOL keeps charging whenever surplus solar energy is available.

Think of it as a bonus: your smart charging plan stays exactly the same, and any excess solar production on top of it goes straight into your car. With Schedule, Price-based and Cheapest time, solar charging continues even after the last slot has passed, as long as your car stays plugged in. With Cheapest energy, the session ends once the requested amount of energy has been added — whether it came from the slots, from solar, or both.
